Rain, Rain, Go Away

The Cardinals and their top two minor league affiliates were rained out last night.  The Cardinals’ game on Saturday has been rescheduled for 6:10 due to the forecast.  Springfield will play a doubleheader to make up Friday’s game.  Memphis and St. Louis dates are TBD. 

It will be Kip Wells vs.  Jeff Supan tonight.  Suppan was able to receive his World Series ring before the game was called last night. 

Palm Beach fell to Vero Beach (Devil Rays) 4 to 2.  Trey Hearne got the loss giving up 3 runs in 5.1 innings.  Hearne gave up six hits and had 4 K’s.  Former catcher Jason Motte pitched a shutout inning.

Quad Cities fell to Kane County (A’s) 5 to 2. Highly regarded prospect  Tyler Herron picked up the loss, giving up 3 runs in 3 innings.  Herron did have 3 Ks.  Brad Furnish gave up 2 runs in 3.2 innings, but did have 5 Ks to go along with 2 BBs.  Brandon Buckman continued his hot hitting going 2 for 4.  James Rapoport had 2 hits and is batting .333.  Minor League veteran Omar Falcon had a hit and is hitting .350.

It is being reported that Ricardo Rincon is close to being signed by the Giants.  So the Giants’ bullpen will have two former Cardinal lefties as Rincon joins Steve Kline.
