Swept

The Brewers got out the brooms and swept the Cardinals winning Wednesday, 4-0.  Anthony Reyes falls to 0-5 with a 5.46 ERA.  Pujols did have a good day going 3-4, raising his average to .280.  The Cardinals are off on Thursday as they will travel to Josh Hancock’s memorial service.  They welcome Houston to town Friday night, with Adam Wainwright getting the call to try and right the ship.

Memphis had only 4 hits in a 4-1 loss to Omaha (Kansas City).  Edgar V. Gonzalez, JRod, Rick Ankiel, and Travis Hanson each had a hit for the Redbirds.  JRod drove in Memphis’ only run.  Troy Cate got roughed up for 4 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings.  Hugo Castellanos pitched a scoreless inning while striking out 2 in his Memphis debut after being called up from Double A.

Springfield fell to Wichita (Kansas City) 15-10.  Mitch Boggs was rocked for 9 runs in 5 innings, but did not get the loss.  The Cardinals were down 8-2, but came back and held a 10-9 lead before giving up 3 in the seventh and eighth.  Matt Scherer got the loss giving up 2 runs in 0.2 innings.  Jason Motte got promoted from Palm Beach and made his debut, giving up 3 runs in his only inning of work.  Juan Richardson had a big day at the plate going 4-5 with a HR and 4 RBIs.  Joe Mather was 2-5 with 3 RBIs.  Colby Rasmus was 2-4 with 4 RBIs.  JuanEnc.  had a hit and is hitting .100.

Palm Beach got a sac fly in the ninth from Ian Church to beat Brevard County (Milwaukee), 6-5.  After being down 5-0 after 2 innings, Palm Beach rallied with help from Allen Craig’s 2 HRs and and 4 RBIs.  Craig is now hitting .376 with 7 HRs and 24 RBIs in 23 games.  Brandon Yarbrough added another 2 hits to raise his average to .354.  Mark Hamilton had 2 hits to raise his average to .231.  After dominating in his first 4 starts, Tyler Norrick had his second consecutive rough outing, giving up 5 runs on 7 hits in 7 innings.  Nick Webber got the win, pitching a scoreless eighth.  Luke Gregerson second save in as many days, striking out 2 during a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

Quad Cities thumped Great Lakes (Dodgers) 13-6.  Mark Shorey was 3-5 with 4 RBIs.  Christian Lopez went 2-5 and is now hitting .349.  Jaime Landin, Chris Grossman, Christina Reyes, and Willian Sandoval all had 2 hits each.  Reyes had 3 RBIs.  Brandon Dickson got the win, going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs. 

Do you think Jeff Weaver realizes the mistake he made going back to the American League?  He is now 0-4 with an 18.26 ERA in 4 games, pitching only 11.1 innings.

Blake Dewitt went 1-3 with 2 BBs for the Inland Empire. 

Southeast Missouri State was rained out.
