Cards finally get a win

Cardinals got back on the winning track beating the Astros 3-2.  The Cardinals only got 5 hits.  Duncan had 2 hits and Pujols had 2 RBIs.  Wainwright was better, going 6 innings and surrendering 2 runs.  Something that concerns me is that he gave up 7 hits and struckout only 1.  This Astros offense is almost as meek as the Cardinals, so I can’t put too much hope that Wainwright is back on the right track.  Izzy notched his seventh save, a multiple inning one, and continues to impress.  Pujols has his average up to .284.

Any team that has So Taguchi and his lifetime .399 SLG % batting fifth can’t seriously think it can compete.  This is pathetic and Cards’ ownership owes the fans, who are dropping ridiculous bucks to support this team, more.  This team is 24th in batting (Astros are 22nd), 26th in HRs, tied for last in runs (with the lowly Nationals and are 13 runs behind the next team, the Pirates), and 20th in ERA.

Memphis fell to Albuquerque (Florida), 10-9.  Chris Narveson was roughed up for 6 in 3.2 innings.  Chris Lambert gave up 1 run but no hits  and struckout 2 in 2 innings of work.  His only run came on a walk, then a stolen base, a wild pitch, and then a sac fly.  Ryan Ludwick continues to hit and be ignored by the big league club.  Ludwick was 2-4 with 4 RBIs.  He leads the PCL in RBIs. Rick Ankiel mashed the ball going  3-5 with his 8th HR (tied for first in the PCL) while his average is now .283.  Brendan Ryan collected 3 hits.  Edgar V. Gonzalez, JRod, Tagg Bozied (along with HR), Rico Washington (who added a HR), and Brian Esposito each had 2 hits.

Springfield  fell in 11 innings to Wichita (Kansas City),  4-3.  Jaime Garcia had a decent game, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, 3 BBs, and a HR, while striking out 5 in 5.2 innings.  JuanEnc.  picked it up, going 3-5 pushing his average to .158.  Juan Richardson hit his fourth HR, a solo shot.  Jarrett Hoffpauir had another good game, going 3-5 and is now hitting .323.  Bryan Anderson has had a rough week or so.  He went 0-5 and is average has fallen to .269.  We do need to remember he is a 20 year old at the Double A level.  Joe Mather went 2-4 and is hitting .333.

Palm Beach fell to Brevard County (Milwaukee), 6-2.  Palm Beach only had 5 hits and Shane Robinson had 2 of them along with an RBI.  The hot hitting Allen Craig went 0-4 with 2 K’s.  Trey Hearne got the loss giving up 5 runs on 7 hits in 6.2 innings.

Quad Cities rallied for 2 in the ninth but still fell short to Cedar Rapids (Angels), 4-3.  Tyler Herron got the loss, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits in 4.2 innings.  Brad Furnish pitched 3 innings, giving up 1 run on 2 hits.  Brandon Buckman was 2-5 with 2 RBIs.  See his player profile below.  Willian Sandoval and James Rapoport each had 2 hits for the Swing.
