Another Late Night Game

Braden Looper and the Cardinals topped the Padres 5-0.  Looper got his fifth win after throwing 7 shutout innings.  Seems Hal McRae is beginning to feel the heat regarding the Card’s anemic offense.  I feel he should be feeling some heat.

Memphis fell to Colorado Springs (Rockies) 5-4.  Rico Washington and Travis Hanson went deep for the Redbirds.  Hanson added another hit and still is only hitting .195 on the season.  Edgar V. Gonzalez had a couple hits to raise his average to .310.  Troy Cate was pretty good giving up 4 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings.  Matt Ginter got the loss and is now 1-4 on the season.  JRod had not played in a couple days but got a pinch hit single then Randy Keisler pinch ran for him.  Matt Pagnozzi made his Triple A debut as a pinch hitter.

In Game 1 of their doubleheader, Wichita (Royals) topped Springfield 5-3.  Tyler Greene was 1-2 hitting his fourth HR of the year.  Colby Rasmus doubled to push his average up to .289.  Sean Danielson had a hit and 2 RBIs.  Mitch Boggs was knocked around for 5 runs on 10 hits sin 5.1 innings.

Game 2 saw Springfield fall again 5-4.  The Cardinals rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh (both games were only 7 innings) on solo HRs by Sean Danielson and Colby Rasmus but still fell short.  It was Rasmus’ fifth HR and he is now hitting .295.  Mike Ferris hit his first HR of the year, a 2 run blast.  Springfield had only 3 hits until the seventh.  Eric Haberer gave up 4 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.

Palm Beach fell to Dunedin (Blue Jays) 6-2.  Allen Craig was 1-4.  Mark Hamilton was 1-4 extended his hit streak to 10 games.  Tyler Norrick was shaky going 4 runs on 9 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings.  He has been shaky in 3 of his last 4 starts after a super beginning.

The Swing topped Burlington 1-0.  Each team had only 5 hits.  Brandon Buckman’s hit streak was snapped as he was 0-4.  Jaime Landin had the only RBI.  P.J. Walters got the start going 5 innings, 4 hits and 3 Ks.  Elvis Hernandez went 2 innigs giving one hit, one walk, and striking out 1.  Kenny Maiques picked up his ninth save with a perfect ninth, striking out 2.

Happy Mothers Day to my Mom and my wife, Christina.
