This Offense stinks!!!

Not much to say about the Cardinals.  They had a whopping 3 hits and struckout 10 times.  Why does Hal McRae still have a job?  When is Hal McRae going to be scrutinized for this offense’s struggles?  When the pitching struggles everyone loves to call for Dave Duncan’s head.  Duncan has a much better track record than McRae, but yet to this point McRae has been given a free pass.  I know this offense is not as talented as it once was, but how can McRae not be at least partly to blame for this team’s offensive woes.  Kip Wells earned his seventh loss giving up 4 runs on 7 hits including 2 HRs in 6 innings of work.

Memphis beat Salt Lake (Angels) 3-2.  Blake Hawksworth topped highly regarded prospect Joe Saunders.  Hawksworth put together his third straight solid outing, going 6 innings, giving up 2 runs, 1 earned on 5 hits and striking out 3.  He is now 2-4 on the season and has his ERA down to 3.52.  Mark Worrell picked up his first save of the season with a perfect ninth.  Tagg Bozied had 2 hit including a HR and has his average up to .298.  Edgar V. Gonzalez was 2-3  and is hitting .306.

Springfield out slugged Wichita (Royals) to win 8-6.  Kevin Ool got the win and Chris Perez picked up his eighth save.  Perez did give up a run and his ERA now stands just over 4.  Juan Enc.  had a hit and is hitting .155.  I don’t think he is ready to be activated this weekend as had been reported.  Colby Rasmus was 2-4 and has his average up to .288.  Juan Richardson had a big game going 4-5.  Joe Mather was 3-3.  Sean Danielson had 2 hits as the DH.

Palm Beach lost to Dunedin (Toronto) 6-4.  Gary Daley got his first loss of the season as he had major control problems, walking 7 in 6 innings.  Mark Hamilton continues to be hot as he hit his fifth HR of the season.  Shane Robinson hit his second.  Ian Church was 1-4 and has his average up to .282.

Quad Cities used a 7 run seventh to come back and beat Lansing (Toronto) 11-5.  Christian Reyes had 2 hits including his second HR.  This was his seventh game since being called up.  In those seven games he has had multiple hits in 6 of the 7 games and is hitting .444.  Brandon Buckman had 2 hits and is his last 10 games he has at least one hit and is batting .513 in that stretch.  Mark Shorey had a hit and another 2 RBIs.  Brandon Dickson picked up his sixth win pitching 5 innings and giving up 3 runs.  Blake King gave up 1 run in 3 innings and struckout 4.

Blake Dewitt was 2-5 including his third HR of the season, a solo shot.

Jacob Priday had 2 HRs and 6 RBIs to lead Mizzou over Oklahoma 13-3.  In the last seven games, Priday is hitting .481 with 11 of his 13 hits during that stretch going for extra bases. He has six home runs during that span, adding two triples, three doubles and 18 runs batted in.

Southeast plays a doubleheader today vs. Moorehead State starting at 1 at Capaha Park.
