Maybe the Cardinals are charitable?

Maybe because they are the World Champs, the Cards want to share the wealth and let everyone in on the winning. The charitable Cardinals gave another struggling pitcher a victory as this time they made Justin Germano look like a Cy Young canidate.  This was Germano’s first major league win in three years and just his seventh career start. The Cards scored no runs and only got 3 hits.  Anthony Reyes is still winless, his record is now 0-6.  Juan Enc. was activated and was hitless and Skip was sent back down to Memphis.  I was glad to see Ryan Ludwick was left up and rewarded the team with a pinch hit.

Memphis lost a slugfest to Colorado Springs 11-7.   Mike Smith was roughed up for 7 runs on 8 hits in five innings.  Chris Lambert gave up 4 runs on 1 hit and 3 BB in only a third of an inning.  Ryan Christianson had 2 hits including his third HR.  Brian Esposito was 3-4 but still only hitting .179.  Nick Stavinoha was 2-5.

Springfield scored runs in the final 3 innings to hold on to a 9-4 victory over Arkansas.  Cory Rauschenberger had his second straight strong outing versus Arkansas giving up 2 runs on 2 hits but a concerning 5 walks in 6 innings.  Jason Motte picked up his second Double A save going 2.1 scoreless innings.  Jon Jay was back in the lineup and was 1-3, 2 BBs, and 3 runs scored.  Sean Danielson is still hitting after his callup, going 2-5 and 2 RBIs.  Colby Rasmus was 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored.  Juan Richardson had 2 hits and 3 RBIs.  Tyler Greene had 2 hits but also had 3 Ks.

Palm Beach had the day off.

The Swing held on to beat Burlington 3-2.  Tyler Herron picked up his second victory with 5 Ks in 5 innings while allowing only 1 run.  Brad Furnish had 5 Ks in 3.2 innings while allowing 1 run.  Kyle Sadlowski picked up his first save getting the final out of the game.  Daryl Jones and Donovan Solano each had 2 hits at the top of the order.  Brandon Buckman had another hit as he just keeps on hitting.  Christian Reyes seems to be coming back down to earth as he was 0-4.

Mizzou won its series over Oklahoma 2-1 with a 10-8 victory on Sunday.  The Tigers take on Illinois at GCS Stadium at Sauget on Tuesday night.

Southeast failed to get the sweep on Sunday but has wrapped up another 30 win season and a trip to the OVC Tourney.  The baseball program at Southeast is one of the least recognized of all the programs, but it could be the best.
