Business as usual.

The Cards fall again to the Tigers 8-7.  The Cardinals had their chances but fell short.  Why was So Taguchi trying to steal with runners on first and third and one of the greatest throwing catchers of all time behind the plate?  As usual, the offense and pitching are not on the same page.  You should not lose if your offense gets 7 runs.

Memphis doubled up Round Rock (Astros) 4-2.  Mike Smith got back on track, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings.  Mark Worrell picked up his second save.  Nick Stavinoha was 3-4 with 2 RBIs.  Brendan Ryan had 2 hits and 2 runs scored.  As a team, the Redbirds struck out 13 times.

Springfield topped Tulsa (Rockies) 6-4.  Colby Rasmus was 3-4 with a HR, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBIs.  His average is now at .306.  Juan Richardson hit his sixth HR and had 2 RBIs.  Tyler Greene seems to be picking it up as he has a hit in 7 of his last 9.  Last night he had a double and a triple.  Cody Haerther is still hitting as he doubled, had an RBI, and scored.  Cory Rauschenberger picked up his fourth win, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 5 walks in 5 innings.  Chris Perez picked up his eleventh save.

Palm Beach thumped Vero Beach (Devil Rays) 9-1.  Allen Craig was 3-4 with 2 RBIs and is hitting .353 for the year.  Mark Hamilton, Ian Church, and Jose Martinez each had 2 hits and 2 RBIs.  Dan Nelson and A.J. Van Slyke each had 2 hits.  Adam Ottavino was solid, pitching 5 scoreless innings, allowing only 2 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 9.

Quad Cities gave up 3 runs in the ninth to fall to West Michigan (Tigers) 6-5.  It was Kenny Maiques blew his first save of the season as he saw his ERA jump from 1.98 to 3.68.  Brad Furnish allowed 2 runs in 4 innings and Tyler Herron allowed 1 run in 3 innings.  Kyle Mura pitched another scoreless inning and still has not allowed a run in 10.1 innings pitched.  Jared Schweitzer had a big game with 3 hits including a grand slam.  Mark Shorey added 2 hits.  Donovan Solano had 2 hits and a run scored.  Willian Sandoval had 2 hits in the leadoff spot.

Mizzou beat Oklahoma State 8-5 clinching second place in the Big 12.  Jacob Priday had 2 hits including a HR and 2 RBIs.  After a slow start, Priday now leads Mizzou in HRs and RBIs.

Short post today, more later.
