News from the farm

The Cardinals were off on Monday which means they did not lose!  The Pirates come to town tonight and are starting a soft tossing lefty, Zach Duke.  Nice article about the Cards’ leading hitter, Albert, I mean Yadi Molina.

I wrote about what it would take to trade Rolen and seems Ken Rosenthal at Foxsports feels that it is too complicated a matter to get done.  He feels Rolen is going nowhere.

Memphis held off a late game rally by Nashville (Brewers) to win 6-5.  Mike Parisi gave up 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 BBs in 7 innings.  Brian Falkenborg picked up his tenth save but did give up a run in the bottom of the ninth.  Chris Lambert gave up a run on 2 hits in 0.1 innings.  Skip, Brendan Ryan, Nick Stavinoha, and Edgar V. Gonzalez all homered.  Ankiel returned to the lineup and went 1-3.

Springfield had the night off.

Palm Beach scored 3 in the second to beat Fort Myers (Twins) 3-2.  Gary Daley had a strong outing, giving up no runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6 in 6 innings.  Luke Gregerson picked up his eighth save pitching 1.1 perfect innings and striking out 3 of the 4 batters he faced.   Ian Church had 2 RBIs.  Isa Garcia picked up the third RBI.  Garcia is only batting .160 after being moved up from Low Class A.  Mark Hamilton was 2-4.  Nathan Southard was 3-4.

The Swing gave up 2 in the ninth to fall to South Bend (Diamondbacks) 6-5.  Kenny Maiques blew his second save in a row.  Brandon Dickson had a nice outing giving up 1 run on in 5 innings.  Blake King gave up 3 runs in 2 innings pitched.  Kyle Mura gave up his first run of the season in 1.1 innings.  Jared Schweitzer had 2 hits including his third HR, a solo shot.  Jaime Landin had a 2 run blast.  Mark Shorey and Christian Reyes each had 2 hits.  Donovan Solano had 3 hits and a run scored.

In this week’s Baseball America Prospect Hot Sheet, no Cardinal minor leaguer made the Top 20.  Eddie Degerman of the swing did make the helium watch.

Mizzou moved from #19 to #11 in this week’s Baseball America’s Top 25
