First off, I did not see any of the Cardinals’ game tonight. I was at GCS Stadium watching the Gateway Grizzlies thump the Southern Illinois Miners. But who would have thought that Anthony Reyes, the hero of Game 1 of the W.S., is 0-8. I am at a loss for words. He is off to the worst start in history for a pitcher that started and won a W.S. game the year before. Is it the old theory, LaRussa/Duncan can’t develop young pitching? Or are these growing pains?
All of the Cardinals’ Minor League affiliates lost tonight. Only one really good individual performance and that was Nick Stavinoha. Stavinoha went 3-4 with an RBI. He has a 7 game winning streak and is hitting .517 during that time. There were quite a few bad individual pitching performances.
Blake Dewitt went 4-5 with 2 doubles. He has his average up to .251. So this is two straight games with 4 hits for Dewitt.
Mizzou lost again today at the Big 12 Tournament. Jacob Priday had a hit and 2 RBIs.
Southeast was eliminated from the OVC tourney.
This was a nice night at GCS Stadium. It was our first visit and we were quite impressed. The staff was nice and the ballpark was very nice being that all the seats were close to the field. Dustin Roberts had a grand slam and a 3-run HR for the Grizzlies. Must be the first name.
Sorry for the short post. We will be off to Peoria to visit the Chiefs on Saturday and then to Davenport to see the Swing on Sunday. Then possibly to Memphis for the NJCAA Juco World Series on Monday.
