Nice Night for Ankiel and Reyes

The Cardinals lost 5-1 and looked bad doing it.  Adam Wainwright fell to 4-5.

The Swing was roughed up by Cedar Rapids (Angels), 7-3.  In his first start since appearing on the Baseball America Prospect Hotsheet, Shaun Garceau was roughed up for 5 runs in 5 innings.  Eddie Degerman gave up 2 runs in 3 innings of work.  Christian Reyes hit his sixth HR of the year.  Daryl Jones and Donovan Solano each had 2 hits.

Palm Beach remains in a funk, losing to Tampa (Yankees), 9-1.  Gary Daley was terrible, giving up 6 runs on 5 hits and 5 BBs in only 1.1 innings.  I wonder if you put him in the bullpen and have him only concentrate on 2 pitches, does his command improve?  Scott Vander Weg gave up 3 runs in 2 innings.  Brandon Yarbrough was the only member of Palm Beach with multple hits, he had 2 singles.  Allen Craig and Mark Hamilton each had a hit.  A.J. Van Slyke struck out 4 Ks.

Sprinfield scored 7 in the fifth to beat Tulsa (Rockies), 10-3.  Tyler Greene hit a 3-run shot in the inning, his sixth of the season.  Jarrett Hoffpauir had a big night going 4-5 with an RBI.  Mike Ferris was 2-5 with 2 RBIs.  Mark Shorey had a hit as a pinch hitter.  Colby Rasmus went 0-5.  Jaime Garcia had a decent start, giving up 3 runs with 6 Ks in 6.1 innings. 

Memphis gave up a 3-run shot to former Cardinal farmhand John Gall in the bottom of the ninth to fall to Albuquerque (Marlins), 11-8.  Anthony Reyes was solid, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits with 6 Ks in 7 innings.  He had 9 ground out compared to 5 fly outs.  Slicky Ricky had 2 hits and 4 RBIs including a 3-run shot, his 13th for the season.  Tagg Bozied had 2 hits and 3 runs scored.  John Nelson had a 3-run shot.
