Weather delays short season openings

What I thought was going to be a long post was shortened by the weather.

The East All-Stars topped the West All-Stars (the Quad Cities division), 8-2.  The Midwest All-Star Game .  Brandon Buckman had a nice night, going 2-3 with a double and an RBI.  What is even more impressive is that the West had only 5 hits.  Christian Lopez was 0-1. Brandon Dickson pitched 0.2 innings and allowed a hit.  Kenny Maiques pitched a perfect third of an inning. Elvis Hernandez struckout the only 2 hitters he faced.  It is time to move Buckman up to replace Hamilton at Palm Beach.

Memphis was off.

Springfield  fell to Arkansas (Angels), 9-5. Adam Daniels was roughed up in his Double A debut.  He gave up 6 runs (5 earned) on 6 hits, 3 walks, and 5 Ks. Nick Webber pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 2.  Michael Cooper gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in an inning.  His ERA is 7.71.  Kevin Oool gave up a solo HR in an inning of work.  Bryan Anderson had a fantastic night.  The 20-year old catcher was 4-5 with 3 RBIs.  Colby Rasmus was 1-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored.  Sean Danielson was 2-5.  Mark Hamilton had a forgetable debut going 0-5.

Palm Beach vs. Daytona (Cubs):  Postponed

Batavia and Auburn (Blue Jays) were suspended after 2 games.  Clayton Mortenson gave up 1 run on 3 hits with a walk and a K.  Oliver Marmol walked and scored the Muckdogs only run.  Andrew Brown had the team’s only hit.

Johnson City vs. Greeneville (Astros):  Postponed

Cards win!  Brad Thompson was very good after being inserted for Kip.  Thompson gave up 1 run on 7 hits in 7 innings of work.  Duncan had a nice night with 2 hits including a HR and 3 RBIs.
