There has been some confusion about Mike McCoy’s stealing of home. I dropped a line to Jim Misalik of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Thanks to Jim for the quick response:
Although it wasn’t planned, the Redbirds executed the first triple steal by a Memphis team since 1979 in the eighth inning Monday. The three-way theft accounted for their only run. With the bases loaded and one out, Nashville starter Zach Jackson attempted to pick Edgar Gonzalez off first base. Gonzalez, who was caught napping, managed to get himself into a rundown. Mike McCoy then broke from third to the plate, easily beating the throw home from indecisive Nashville second baseman Jose Macias. Gonzalez ended up at safely at second, with Michael Ferris swiping third.
